  • El trauma craneoencefálico es la principal causa de hematoma subdural crónico aunque con frecuencia puede ocurrir en ausencia de un evento identificable.

  • Es más frecuente en personas de la tercera edad del sexo masculino.

  • El hematoma se desarrolla en la capa más externa de la duramadre.

  • El estudio de elección para su diagnóstico es la tomografía computarizada.

  • El tratamiento quirúrgico se realizará en pacientes seleccionados.
